Company Logos/Idents

We watched a series of company idents and used descriptive writing in order to discover what the compnaies were trying to portray. We watch 21st Fox, Universal Studios, Icon, Paramount Pictures and Lakeshore Productions.

It was quickly apparent that the larger companies (Fox, Universal and Paramount) had a very bold approach in order to emphasise their power over film. The smaller copmanies, like Lakeshore, used an unusual ident. They wanted to create a 'relaxed atomsphere' unlike the larger companies idents. In my opinion, they did this to break away from the other companies by using an alternative type of ident. This represented their independance.

This is the film production company 20th Century Fox. Their ident is big and bold which suggests that its a powerful company and has established itself in the media industry.

The production company Lakeshore Entertainment has a very different ident to 20th Century Fox. You can guess that it is much smaller company. I think it has chosen this particular ident to give variety and show that they make films recreationally rather than to show the "strength" or "power" or their company.
